MLCC, or multilayer ceramic chip capacitor, is often referred to as the “staple of the electronics industry.” “Take this MLCC used in AI servers, for example—its market price can range from 0.5 to 3 yuan,” said Huang Yiqin, the company’s technical director, as he gently picked up a sand-grain-sized multilayer ceramic chip capacitor from the workstation in the automated production line of Yuanci Juguang (Jiangsu) Electronics Co., Ltd., located in the Lingang Economic Development Zone. Anchored by this tiny “grain of rice,” the startup—established just over a year ago—is now aiming to capture a massive market worth more than 120 billion yuan, where the domestic substitution rate stands at only around 10%.

MLCC, or multilayer ceramic chip capacitor, is often referred to as the “staple of the electronics industry.” “For example, an MLCC used in AI servers can fetch a market price of 0.5 to 3 yuan.” Recently, in the automated workshop of Yuanci Juguang (Jiangsu) Electronics Co., Ltd., located in the Lingang Economic Development Zone, the company’s technical director, Huang Yiqin, gently picked up a multilayer chip ceramic capacitor—no bigger than a grain of sand—and held it up for display. Anchored to this tiny “grain of rice,” This up-and-coming company, established just over a year ago, is making inroads into a massive market worth more than RMB 120 billion, where the domestic substitution rate stands at only around 10%. 。

“From project initiation to stable mass production, we successfully entered the high-value market segment in just 13 months. We are now in steady mass production, with annual output value already exceeding RMB 100 million.” The reporter also learned from Huang Yiqin that, in the MLCC industry—a sector characterized by long development cycles—Primcera Electronics has achieved remarkable growth: it has shortened the industry’s typical 18-month commercialization cycle to just six months, and reduced its product development timeline from one and a half years to three months. According to the plan, The company’s production capacity will reach 200 million units this year and expand to 1 billion units by 2027. 。

Behind the accelerated ramp-up of production lies a precise solution to the industry’s most pressing challenges. According to reports, MLCC manufacturing involves a complex series of processes—ranging from material formulation and tape‑casting to sintering and terminal plating—spanning more than ten steps, whereas traditional production lines typically require over a year just for infrastructure setup and equipment delivery. Leveraging a core team with an average of 15 to 20 years of industry experience, Yuanqi Juguang has, through meticulous planning and highly efficient collaboration, successfully disrupted conventional industry timelines and achieved rapid deployment of its production lines. Notably, the implementation of its automated workshop alone has required an investment of tens of millions of yuan.

Inside the company’s visitor corridor, the reporter followed Huang Yiqin, who explained as they walked. “Co-firing technology represents a core technological barrier in the MLCC manufacturing field. Ceramic powder and metal paste must be sintered simultaneously at temperatures exceeding 1,000 degrees Celsius, and even slight deviations in shrinkage can easily lead to delamination of the finished product,” Huang Yiqin said. To overcome this challenge, The Primcera Electronics team not only has a thorough understanding of the entire production process chain but also continuously overcomes technical challenges—such as high capacity, miniaturization, and high voltage resistance—by incorporating specially engineered additives into the material system. , product performance has steadily caught up with international advanced standards.

Targeting the two high-end segments of AI‑grade, high‑voltage, high‑capacitance MLCCs and automotive‑grade MLCCs, Yuanci Julight is driving the domestic substitution of premium MLCCs through its technological prowess. Its flagship products are already widely deployed in applications such as AI servers and new‑energy vehicles—environments that demand exceptionally stringent performance in terms of voltage rating, capacitance, loss characteristics, and reliability. At present, its key technical metrics have reached the level of leading international players, while its overall cost is 10%–20% lower than comparable overseas offerings, giving it a distinct market advantage. Meanwhile, the company is collaborating with numerous top-tier domestic and international customers on joint R&D for next‑generation products, further expanding its market footprint.

Rigorous quality control is a solid guarantee of product competitiveness. In the workshop, an ultrasonic immersion flaw detector is used to inspect the internal structure of each product. Here, all products must undergo 2,000 hours of reliability testing, with some undergoing extended tests lasting 3,800 to 4,000 hours. “Over the past decade and more, the pace of product and process innovation in China’s MLCC industry has been relatively slow. We aim to undertake a comprehensive overhaul across materials, equipment, and management, striving to catch up with international cutting‑edge standards.” Huang Yiqin said.
